Veilr routes messages between two people through a private proxy number. Neither party ever sees the other's real phone number — before, during, or after the conversation.
Text START to the Veilr number. You'll receive a unique 5-digit connection code valid for 10 minutes.
Give the code to whoever you want to connect with. They text the code plus their first message to activate the session.
Both parties receive a dedicated proxy number. Reply to it normally. The session auto-expires after 24 hours of inactivity.
Veilr sends two types of messages: system notifications (session codes, connection confirmations, expiry alerts) and forwarded conversational messages between connected parties. No marketing, promotional, or unsolicited messages are ever sent.
You opt in to Veilr by explicitly texting START to our number (User A) or by texting a session code and message (User B). Both actions constitute active consent. No one receives Veilr messages without first taking a deliberate action.
Message frequency varies based on your usage. You only receive messages when an active session has been established and the other party sends you a message. System notifications are limited to session lifecycle events only.
Veilr ("we," "us," or "our") is a private SMS proxy service that enables two consenting parties to communicate via text message without disclosing their real phone numbers to each other. Veilr is operated as a personal project in the United States.
When you use Veilr, we collect the following information:
Veilr uses Twilio, Inc. to send and receive SMS and MMS messages. Twilio processes message content and metadata in accordance with Twilio's Privacy Policy. Your phone number is transmitted to Twilio for message routing. Veilr's backend infrastructure is hosted on Railway, Inc. Database storage is provided by a Railway-managed PostgreSQL instance.
Session records (phone numbers, proxy numbers, session status, metadata) are retained for up to 90 days after session expiry, after which they are permanently deleted. Message metadata logs (direction, media flag, timestamp) are retained for up to 30 days. We do not retain message content at any point.
You may request deletion of your session data at any time by texting STOP to the Veilr number. To request complete deletion of your phone number from our records, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
Veilr uses industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (TLS) for all data in transit, and access-controlled database infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use Veilr only for communications you are comfortable transmitting over SMS.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of Veilr after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
